What defines a law office is not how many files it handles, but how it handles a single file. UTU Hukuk & Danışmanlık was founded in Ankara in 2016 to give a clear answer to that question.

At UTU Hukuk Danışmanlık our way of working rests on three things: establishing the time limits on day one, setting out the options in writing together with their likely outcomes, and leaving the client with no surprises along the way. These are not marketing lines; they are our criteria for accepting a file.

Our office provides representation and advice in criminal law, corporate and commercial law, employment law, tax and administrative law, transport, mining, insurance, enforcement and insolvency, real estate, inheritance, family and compensation law, as well as individual application proceedings before the Constitutional Court and the ECtHR.

Although based in Ankara, we handle files throughout Türkiye through a partner network across 68 provinces and solution partners in 14+ countries; we work with domestic and foreign clients in Turkish and English.

UTUSumer · god of the sun and justice

Origin of the Name

The one who opens the gates of the sky at dawn.

Utu is the god of the sun and of justice in Mesopotamia. Each morning he opens the gates of the sky, sees everything that happens on earth throughout the day, and because he sees, he is able to judge. The long saw in his hand is the ancestor of the sword of Themis.

  • No decision without seeing — no advice on direction before the file has been read.
  • Justice is a matter of measure, not of power — every file is worked to the same standard.
  • Dawn is the moment the process begins — time limits are established on day one.

Working Principles

Six rules, without exception.

These principles are not a marketing text but the internal working order of our office. Decisions on accepting a file are made accordingly.

01

Time limits first

The first question we ask when looking at a file is not about the right, but about the time limit. A running deadline can render even the strongest claim unusable.

02

A written roadmap

Options are set out in writing together with their likely outcomes and costs. No advice on direction given orally enters the file.

03

The same depth

The monetary size of a file does not determine the intensity of the work. We keep no category called a small file.

04

Realistic expectations

No outcome is promised. What can be given is a clear explanation of what each possibility depends on.

05

Confidentiality

Client lists, case information and the content of meetings are not shared in any medium. This is not a preference but a rule of the profession.

06

A single point of contact

Whoever handles the file is the one who attends the meeting. We do not create intermediary layers.

Process

What happens when a file comes to us?

Four steps; the same order applies to every file, from the first meeting to execution.

01

Preliminary meeting

We listen to the subject of the file, its stage and the time limits. A conflict-of-interest check is carried out. The meeting is held by appointment and on a confidential basis.

02

Document review

Existing documents, service dates and the case file, if any, are examined. We establish which time limits are running and which rights can still be exercised.

03

Roadmap

Options are set out in writing together with their likely outcomes and costs. The engagement and the fee are agreed in a written contract before work begins.

04

Execution and reporting

Information is provided at every stage as the matter proceeds. Hearings, service and time limits are notified in advance; no surprises are left.

Our Team

Whoever handles the file is the one who attends.

Client lists and case details are not published, as required by the rules of the legal profession and the duty of confidentiality. Meet our team →
